Ricardo Villalobos

Ricardo Villalobos holds a central place in the history of minimal, microhouse and Europe's culture of long-form DJ sets. Of Chilean-German background, he developed a way of producing and DJing from the 1990s onwards in which percussion, space and small rhythmic variations carry as much weight as the overall structure of a track.

His discography has appeared on key labels including Playhouse, Perlon and Cadenza. Extended, detail-rich works such as Achso and his fabric 36 mix, built entirely from his own material, helped establish an aesthetic that would influence several generations of minimal and house producers.

His relationship with Fabric is particularly long-running: he debuted in Room 1 in 2002 and has remained a regular presence at the London club for more than two decades, often through marathon sets. The same approach shapes his appearances in Ibiza, at festivals and in clubs internationally, where he can move through house, minimal, techno, Latin music and unexpected selections without relying on a predictable set structure.
