Colin Benders & Freddy K with Antonio De Angelis at Gate Milano

Colin Benders and Freddy K represent two strikingly different methods of making techno, and both come to Gate Milano on 19 February. Benders, once widely known as Kyteman, moved from leading an orchestra influenced by jazz and hip-hop into improvising entire electronic performances with modular synthesizers. Each live appearance is constructed in the moment. Freddy K, born Alessio Armeni, approaches the dancefloor through vinyl records, extended mixing and a commitment to the communities that keep techno alive. His history stretches back to the Roman radio show Virus and later to Berlin's KEY Vinyl imprint. Antonio De Angelis is scheduled to open the evening. The contrast between spontaneous machine-based performance and the patient craft of record selection is unusually clear here. It is a club night that invites the audience to hear how different traditions of electronic music remain connected.
