Bára Gísladóttir brings Víddir to Berlin's Gedächtniskirche

Bára Gísladóttir makes compositions that can seem almost alive. The Icelandic double bassist stretches the possibilities of her instrument through extended techniques and electronics, creating sounds that move between delicate textures and overwhelming physical presence. On 29 January, she presents Víddir with an ensemble at Berlin's Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church during CTM 2027. Her work crosses contemporary classical music, drone and experimental electronics, drawing energy from styles that might appear very distant from traditional concert music.
