Garage Nation Amsterdam: Artful Dodger, DJ Cartier & MC Kie

UK garage was shaped as much by radio crews and MCs as by the producers who made its records. Garage Nation brings that culture back to Melkweg on 6 November with Artful Dodger, DJ Cartier and MC Kie. Founded in 1997 during the genre's early expansion, the party series has followed the music from British clubs to international audiences without losing its connection to swinging rhythms, warm bass and vocal exchanges. Its eleventh Amsterdam edition takes over the MAX room from 23:30. The presence of MC Kie gives the programme a direct link to the relationship between spoken voices and dancefloor momentum. More than a retrospective, it is another chance to experience a living style of club music whose influence can still be heard across bass, house and contemporary UK sounds.
