Mr Scruff: Free Time at Sub Club Glasgow

Mr Scruff returns to Scotland on 12 December for a Free Time party at Glasgow's Sub Club. The Manchester selector has spent years showing how house, disco, soul, funk and more surprising records can belong in the same set when they are connected with care. His approach is as much about curiosity and listening as it is about the usual mechanics of a headline DJ performance. That makes the compact basement on Jamaica Street a natural setting: a room where small changes in rhythm and mood can be felt immediately. The date belongs to a short Scottish run linked to the Free Time series, and the focus remains on an extended relationship between the artist and the people dancing. For an audience that values musical imagination over genre loyalty, this is a particularly appealing form of club night.
