Grant Dell brings a piece of London house history to Marseille

Long before tech house became a festival catchphrase, DJs like Grant Dell were building something different in small London rooms. His taste grew out of Chicago house, Detroit techno, dub and reggae, and those influences fed into the sound of Swag Records and the Wiggle parties. The records had groove, weight and a sense of discovery, with little interest in easy formulas. On 10 November, the Succession crew welcomes Dell to Petit Cab in Marseille, joined by Alich and resident Lennyy. Alich brings his love of machines and his work around DECADANCE, while Lennyy remains close to deep house and Detroit influences. From 11pm until 5am, the night offers a meeting between a formative name in British underground dance music and two selectors from Marseille. The appeal is in the records and the stories their combinations can tell.
