Classical ballet meets techno on the dancefloor at Bootshaus

What happens when ballet leaves the theatre and enters a techno club? A Techno Ballet Odyssey has been exploring that idea with the Berlin Ballet Company, placing classically trained dancers in the middle of a night usually devoted to DJs and dancefloors. The production returns to Bootshaus in Cologne on 22 April 2027 after earlier performances at the venue. Dancers perform across three stages to an original techno score written by Marko Nastić, who also plays the music live. The piece follows a character on a search for himself, borrowing from the story of Odysseus without turning it into a conventional ballet. The audience experiences movement, sound and light in the same shared space. The evening begins at 7:30pm and ends at midnight. It is a fascinating crossover for people curious about how electronic club culture can inspire performance beyond a traditional DJ set.
