La Roux returns to Melkweg with Old Flames and a new electropop chapter

Some electronic pop songs seem to keep their edge long after their first release. In for the Kill and Bulletproof introduced La Roux to a wide audience, mixing sharp synthesizers with vocals and melodies that stood apart from the mainstream of the time. On 8 March 2027, Elly Jackson returns to Amsterdam's Melkweg with Old Flames, a new album she has written, composed and produced herself. Influences ranging from the strange cinematic worlds of David Lynch to nineties R&B suggest an artist interested in moving forward rather than simply repeating the sounds that made her famous. The OZ room opens at 7:30pm. It is a return after several years away from the venue, and a chance to hear how one of electropop's distinctive voices has developed a different relationship with the music that first brought her to the dancefloor.
