THE STORY BEHIND
KTK

KTK is the alias of Katerina Kontou, a Berlin-based techno DJ and producer with Greek roots. Her sound sits between hypnotic techno, fast-paced club rhythms and a strong trance influence, with groove and shifts in tension playing a central role in both her sets and productions. The result is a style that can move from direct, functional club material into more spacious and psychedelic passages without losing momentum.

Her international profile began to grow from 2022 onwards, with appearances outside Germany and an increasingly regular presence across European techno line-ups. Since then she has played clubs and festivals in Berlin, Paris, Vienna, London, Athens and other cities, sharing bills with artists from several strands of contemporary techno. Her DJ sets tend to operate at higher tempos, but they are rarely one-dimensional: dry percussion, acid lines, hypnotic loops and trance elements are used to create contrast and keep the energy in motion.

That same balance is present in her studio work. In 2024 KTK released ECHOES FROM SYRIUS on Misguided Label, an EP where hypnotic techno meets psytrance references and a concept shaped by cosmic imagery. Further releases included MOONRYSE for BCCO, a remix of DJ Hyperdrive's Mindfreak, and the collaborative Synergy project with BEC on EMBARGO in 2025. The latter also featured KTK solo tracks including YNTRO and TRINITY.

Later in 2025 she joined BIIANCO on Ain't With Us for Teletech, pushing her sound towards a more vocal and immediately physical side of the dancefloor. In 2026 she followed with IKARUS RYSING and the HOW TO FREE YOUR MIND EP, continuing to connect trance, techno and high-energy club production. The recent catalogue shows a producer gaining sharper control over the relationship between melody, repetition and rhythmic pressure.

Greek mythology and cosmic imagery recur throughout KTK's titles and concepts, but their strongest effect comes from how they are translated into club music: gradual builds, shifts in density, and a sense of groove that keeps speed from becoming the only point of the track. That balance between physical impact and narrative detail is now one of the clearest markers of her identity.
