Cora Novoa

Cora Novoa works across electronic production, DJing, creative direction and audiovisual performance. After periods in Madrid and Berlin she settled in Barcelona, where much of her current work is based and where she founded SEEKING THE VELVET in 2014. The independent transmedia label brings music, art and technology into the same framework and has become a central part of her creative practice. Her background includes early classical training on transverse flute and a later self-taught route into electronic production through computing, a combination that helps explain her interest in synthesis, structure and systems-based sound design.

In clubs, Novoa works mainly around techno, often bringing in acid, electro, industrial textures and tightly programmed percussion. Her DJ sets build tension through layering and changes in density rather than relying on one fixed tempo or stylistic lane. Alongside that club practice she has developed an audiovisual live format where the visual component is treated as part of the composition rather than as decoration. Mental Diary is one of the clearest examples of that approach: a trilogy released through SEEKING THE VELVET, completed with its third act in December 2024.

Her catalogue also includes releases on labels such as Turbo Recordings and Citizen Records, while SEEKING THE VELVET gives her an independent structure for her own work and for collaborations with other artists. Novoa moves between clubs, festivals and performing-arts spaces, switching naturally from dancefloor-focused DJ sets to AV shows built for rooms where sound, image and lighting carry equal weight. That range has become a defining part of her identity, placing her comfortably between club culture, electronic composition and digital art without flattening those areas into the same format.
