Dimension

Dimension is the alias of London producer and DJ Robert Alexander Etheridge. His career has developed within drum & bass, but from the beginning he has worked with a broader palette than the genre in its strictest sense: trance-inspired synths, wide harmonies, pop-structured vocals and extremely clean production designed to work both in clubs and on large stages.

He began releasing music in the early 2010s, with an initial phase linked to labels including Cyantific and UKF Music. In 2014 Chase & Status brought him onto MTA Records, an important step in his growth within the UK scene. Releases such as Love To Me, Whip Slap, Dark Lights and Panzer appeared there, helping establish an identity built on heavy bass, polished arrangements and a more ambitious melodic approach than is usual in functional drum & bass.

From 2017 onwards he expanded his catalogue through self-releases and collaborations. Rush with Wilkinson appeared on RAM Records, while Desire, produced with Sub Focus and released in 2018, became one of the major turning points in his career. That same year he delivered Fabriclive 98, a mix documenting both his drum & bass roots and his interest in techno, breaks and other forms of club music.

In 2021 he released Organ, his debut album, distributed by Warner/ADA. Etheridge produced, mixed and mastered the record and also worked directly on the vocal compositions. The album featured collaborations with Liam Bailey, Culture Shock, Sharlene Hector and other guests, taking his sound towards a more cinematic scale without abandoning the rhythmic design of drum & bass.

Dimension is also part of Worship alongside Sub Focus, Culture Shock and 1991. The project has played an important role in the recent expansion of British drum & bass into large venues and international festivals, particularly in North America. Within that context, Dimension has continued releasing his own music and collaborations including Ready To Fly with Sub Focus, DJ Turn It Up, Satellite with Alison Wonderland and Angel with Sub Focus, NGHTMRE and Mougleta.

His visual and live work carries unusual weight within the genre. Dimension's tours and shows are conceived as an extension of the music production, with lighting, visuals and stage direction treated as part of the same language. That search for coherence between sound, design and performance has made the project one of the most recognisable of the contemporary drum & bass generation.
