DJ Manny

DJ Manny is Manuel Gaines, a footwork producer and dancer born in Chicago and raised between Robbins and Harvey, Illinois. He encountered juke and footwork as a child and eventually became part of the core Teklife circle, developing a very direct relationship between dance and production: his tracks are built from movement but rarely stop at pure battle functionality.

His catalogue has expanded the language of footwork through R&B, house, jungle and techno without losing the speed or syncopation of the genre. Records such as “Signals In My Head” and “Hypnotized”, both released by Planet Mu, show two complementary sides of his work: one warmer and more romantic, the other drier, tenser and more experimental.
