The fastest route into Klangkuenstler's latest activity on AT-DJ.
Klangkuenstler is the alias of Michael Korb, a German DJ and producer who has become one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary techno. Born in Füssen, Bavaria, he found a path through electronic music that first took him to Munich and, in 2012, to Berlin, where he began building his career within club culture.
His trajectory was not always tied to harder sounds. During his early years he explored deep house and tech house, releasing on labels including Stil vor Talent, Toolroom and Deeperfect. That period left an important mark on his production: even when the tempo rises and the dancefloor is pushed hard, his tracks retain direct structures and a sense of groove that keeps intensity from collapsing into pure noise.
From 2018 onwards, his sound changed significantly. Klangkuenstler brought back the rawness of German techno from the 1990s and early 2000s, using heavy kicks, metallic percussion, tense synth lines and a largely uncompromising industrial aesthetic. Productions such as Weltschmerz, Deine Angst and Die Welt Brennt helped define this phase and placed him at the centre of the hard techno and schranz resurgence.
In 2019 he founded Outworld, a label that soon grew beyond releasing music. The project became a broader extension of his creative universe, with events, its own visual identity and production inspired by futuristic and dystopian settings. It reflects an understanding of techno as a complete experience rather than simply a sequence of tracks.
His sets follow the same philosophy. Klangkuenstler mixes quickly and precisely, linking industrial rhythms, dark melodies and sustained moments of tension. This is not techno designed to sit in the background: it demands energy, volume and a dancefloor willing to keep pace.
Across major festivals, clubs and his own productions, the German artist has built a recognisable identity while keeping sight of rave culture's roots. His approach connects the impact of current techno with the physical, accelerated and unfiltered spirit of an earlier era. That tension between forward movement and historical reference remains central to the project.
