Spastik is the industrial techno project of Belgian producer and live artist Lennert Den Tijn, based around Ghent and a hardware-led approach in which modular synthesis plays a central role. His tracks are built from heavy percussion, abrasive textures and tightly controlled rhythmic pressure, with noise and distortion treated as structural elements rather than decoration. On stage, the same language is translated into a machine-driven live set that can move from hypnotic repetition into much harsher territory while retaining a coherent flow.
His activity within the Belgian underground can be traced back to at least 2017, when Spastik began appearing on line-ups connected to industrial and harder-edged techno. Since then he has developed a catalogue that favours direct club functionality without flattening everything into one tempo or texture. Releases include Blood Moon, The Henchman, Whitechapel, Jackie, East End, After Death, Metal, Red Lights and Speedball, alongside contributions to compilations released by labels including Agora Records and Synergy.
The more recent material makes his priorities especially clear: hard, dry drums, metallic layers, strained synth lines and arrangements that rely on repetition, accumulation and shifts in intensity. That vocabulary suits his modular live format, where physical impact and gradual transformation are able to sit in the same set. Spastik’s current output places him firmly in the contemporary Belgian industrial techno continuum, with production and live performance functioning as two parts of the same project.
