Richie Hawtin has moved his worldwide representation to TS Agency, the independent Berlin booking company co-founded by Dixon. The change ends an almost 15-year relationship with WME and places one of techno’s longest-running global careers inside an artist-owned agency structure.

The arrangement is not a complete reset of Hawtin’s booking network. Liaison Artists will continue to represent him in North America, while 3D Agency remains responsible for Italy. TS becomes the central partner for worldwide representation outside those existing regional relationships.

Why the agency structure matters

For an artist at Hawtin’s level, agency moves are usually treated as industry housekeeping. This one is more revealing because of the language around ownership and independence. Hawtin linked the decision to the electronic music culture he came through: artists, labels and promoters building their own infrastructure rather than relying entirely on major entertainment companies.

Hawtin's touring career has moved between clubs, festivals and large-scale audiovisual formats for more than three decades.

That idea fits Hawtin’s history unusually well. From Plus 8 and M_nus to Plastikman, ENTER. and the more recent From Our Minds platform, he has repeatedly built structures around the music rather than working only as a touring DJ. His technology projects — from early digital DJ systems to PLAYdifferently’s MODEL 1 mixer — also sit outside the conventional artist-manager-agency loop.

TS Agency has grown from the same part of the scene

TS Agency was founded in Berlin in 2016 and represents a roster centred on electronic music, including Âme, Sama’ Abdulhadi, HUNEE, Cinthie, Paula Tape, Jimi Jules and Dixon himself. The company’s artist-owned model is the key distinction in the Hawtin announcement: strategic decisions sit closer to people actively working as artists rather than being made inside a large diversified entertainment corporation.

Hawtin's career has long been tied to club infrastructure as well as festival-scale touring.

The timing is also notable. Booking has become increasingly consolidated, with major agencies handling large rosters across music, sport and entertainment. Electronic music still supports a parallel network of specialised independent agencies, but artists with decades-long international careers often sit inside the major groups. Hawtin’s move goes in the opposite direction.

A career built around control

Hawtin’s catalogue and live work make the move easier to read as part of a broader pattern. Plastikman developed as a tightly controlled artistic identity; M_nus combined records, events and visual language; his later live systems have treated software, lighting and audio routing as parts of a single performance environment. The common thread is not simply technology. It is control over how the work reaches a room.

That does not mean a smaller agency automatically produces a more independent career in every practical sense. Hawtin still works across promoters, venues, festivals and regional representatives around the world. What changes is the company coordinating much of that activity and the ownership model behind it.

  • Artist: Richie Hawtin
  • New agency: TS Agency
  • Previous global agency: WME
  • North America: Liaison Artists remains in place
  • Italy: 3D Agency remains in place

For TS, Hawtin adds a figure whose career spans the club underground, large touring productions, label-building and music technology. For Hawtin, the move returns his global representation to a specialist independent structure while keeping the regional network around it intact.
