John Talabot

John Talabot is the project of Barcelona DJ and producer Oriol Riverola, a key figure in the electronic music to emerge from the city since the late 2000s. His music moves freely between house, slowed-down disco, ambient, dub, acid and more psychedelic forms of techno, with particular attention to texture, space and the gradual building of tension. In 2009 he released his first work under the alias, followed soon afterwards by ƒIN, his debut album for Permanent Vacation, which broadened his international reach. He also runs Hivern Discs, a label closely connected to Barcelona's scene, and has developed side projects including Talaboman with Axel Boman. In the booth he often works with long, unpredictable arcs, moving between functional dance music and more atmospheric or experimental passages without losing the thread of the floor.
