Richie Hawtin

Richie Hawtin is one of the fundamental figures in contemporary electronic music. Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Canada, he developed his artistic identity close to Detroit, absorbing the influence of the techno that was transforming the city in the late 1980s. Since then, his career has been shaped by a sustained search for new ways to produce, perform and present electronic music.

Under the Plastikman alias he developed a minimal, hypnotic and deeply experimental sound that helped expand techno's boundaries. He also co-founded Plus 8 Records and later created M_nus, two labels that played important roles in the international development and circulation of the genre.

Beyond his discography, Hawtin has consistently integrated technology, design and club culture into his performances. His sets are known for extreme technical precision, progressive narrative and a highly personal approach to manipulating sound in real time. Projects including ENTER. and CLOSE reflect that interest in treating performance as a complete audiovisual environment.
