Yamato

Yamato is a Japanese DJ and producer known for a highly technical performance style built around creative use of CDJ players. His connection with the technology is unusually direct: before fully developing his artist career he worked as a technical developer on Pioneer's CDJ series. Two years after his DJ debut he won the Japanese edition of the burn WORLD DJ CONTEST 2013 and was later selected by Avicii to perform alongside him in Budapest. His performance-video series has accumulated tens of millions of views, documenting an approach based on fast manipulation, layering and intensive hardware use. As a producer he has released singles including ZEN, Shinwa and Essential, as well as the Essentials EP. His activity combines original production, club and festival appearances and technically focused DJ performances.
