THE STORY BEHIND
LOKIER

Lokier is the project of Yoan Rodriguez Lokier, a DJ and producer born in Mexico City and based in Berlin. She began DJing at raves in Mexico City in the early 2010s before moving first to Barcelona and later to the German capital, where she found an environment closer to the mix of techno, industrial, EBM, electro and rave references already present in her early productions.

Her first releases were connected to labels including Les Disques de la Mort, Throne Of Blood, Pinkman and Squirrels On Film, alongside collaborations under the She Made Monster project with Morgan Hammer. That period was strongly shaped by post-punk, dark electronics and horror-film aesthetics, an influence Lokier has cited since the beginning. John Carpenter, Goblin and other horror soundtracks sit in the background of a production style where tension, atmosphere and synthesizers carry as much weight as club impact.

By the end of the 2010s her sound had become harder and faster. She released on Pinkman, appeared on aufnahme + wiedergabe and Boysnoize Records, and developed a DJ style increasingly focused on industrial techno, rave, acid and electro. In 2020 she self-released Preech EP, a record that caught Amelie Lens's attention and opened a new chapter connected to Lenske. In 2021 she released Back To Life EP on the Belgian label and became part of its international circuit.

Since then, Lokier has also released on EXHALE and BPitch, where she contributed to the We Are Not Alone series. Her recent catalogue broadens the language towards hard techno, trance and breakbeat while retaining the industrial tension of her earlier work. In 2025 she returned to her own platform with Back To It / Pretend, an EP that captures that phase well: speed, rave melodies, hard percussion and production shaped around high-energy structures.

Lokier also runs LightStrike, a label created to release her own material and keep control over part of her catalogue. The platform extends her visual and sonic identity, with particular attention to industrial kicks, dark vocals and rave tools. That independence sits alongside work for established labels and an increasingly international touring schedule.

In the booth she has played at Berghain, Tresor, RSO.BERLIN, Rex Club, Faust Seoul, Movement Detroit, Awakenings and other clubs and festivals across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Her sets are not built around a single label: techno, trance, breakbeat, industrial and electro appear according to the moment, with high intensity but a flexible narrative. That mix of post-punk roots, rave culture and contemporary techno remains at the core of the project.
