Trentemøller announces a new self-titled album for November

Trentemøller will release a new self-titled album on 13 November through his own In My Room label. The ten-track record follows 2024’s Dreamweaver and arrives with Terrified as its first single, featuring Jonas Bjerre of Mew. A run of European live dates has also been announced for early 2027.

Terrified pulls the guitars back and lets the synths breathe

The first single offers a useful clue about the record’s direction. Trentemøller says the track began in a more shoegaze-heavy form before he stripped back some of the wash and pushed the arrangement towards clearer synth textures. The result still carries his familiar tension between haze and melody, but the mix leaves Bjerre’s voice with more space than some of Trentemøller’s denser recent work.

Bjerre’s contribution fits the song well. Mew always had a knack for making uneasy melodies feel oddly uplifting, and Terrified plays in that same emotional territory. The lyric deals with imagined catastrophes and the way the mind rehearses fear before anything has actually happened. It is not exactly beach-bar material, but there is plenty of lift in the chorus.

A self-titled record usually means something deliberate

Trentemøller has not published the full tracklist yet, but choosing his own name for the album suggests a fairly direct statement after two decades of releases under the project. His catalogue has moved through minimal techno, dubby club music, synth-pop, post-punk and shoegaze without ever fully settling into one lane. The new single leans towards the more song-based end of that spectrum.

The live return starts in February 2027

The next European run begins in Berlin on 27 February and continues through Munich, Bern, Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, London, Cologne, Oslo, Gothenburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen. Those dates come after the long Dreamweaver cycle, which took Trentemøller’s band through Europe, North America, Australia and China.

The full tracklist and further singles are still to come. For now, Terrified gives enough to work with: the guitars are still there, the synths are sharper, and Bjerre sounds right at home in Trentemøller’s slightly bruised corner of electronic pop.
